Having worked in education for many years in secondary, primary, SEND and finally as a Head Teacher I was keen to continue contributing to children’s education through the role of Governor at Dr Walkers.

Whilst it is a challenging time in education I firmly believe that the school’s future lies in being part of a family of other schools and so I am delighted that we have joined LIFE Education Trust and look forward to an exciting academic year that offers many new opportunities while continuing to provide a supportive and nurturing environment.

As a twelve year resident of Ongar, I believe it is important to try and make a positive difference locally, which the position of Governor has allowed me to achieve in some small part. I have been a parent at the school for five years and have now been a member of the Governing Board for two years. During this time I have aimed to hold the school to the high standard that the parent body expect. It has been a fascinating journey in a very challenging sector, and one that I am looking forward to continuing as we become part of the LIFE Education Trust.
Outside of my role within the school, I am a husband, a parent of two children, both of whom attend the school, and the beleaguered owner of two very dopey cats. I have worked in technology since my graduation some twenty years ago and currently run the technical team for the UK’s leading cybersecurity distributor. I am also a bit of a music obsessive, collecting records, attending gigs, DJing and playing some middling guitar when I get the chance (you may catch me at the local open mic night on a rare occasion).

I have worked in education for over 20 years and am currently the Deputy Headteacher of a four-form entry primary school in Dagenham. I am passionate about ensuring every child has a strong start in life and believe in the power of education to transform futures. My experience in teaching and leadership has given me a deep understanding of how to support pupils and staff to achieve their best.

Outside of school, I am a proud parent of three children, including baby twins, and my eldest daughter attends Dr Walker’s School. These experiences give me a unique perspective on the importance of high-quality education and strong school communities.
